Mercedes Azancot is a Ph.D. candidate at Yeshiva University Revel School, focusing her thesis on the Sephardic communities of North Africa. In addition, she holds two master’s degrees in Spanish Literature and Jewish History. Originally from Ceuta, Spain, Mercedes has traveled around the globe, assisting in the growth of developing Sephardic communities, including Barcelona, Bogota, and Paris. Mercedes has worked in Judaic education for over 30 years, teaching students of all ages, from elementary school to post-seminary and adults. She lives in Brooklyn, NY, with her husband, Rabbi Azancot, the head rabbi at Congregation Beth Torah.
